History of the Tolutim dalmatians

We have been involved with the breed since 1980 whan we bought our first dog, élan (Aelahn of Osgiliath), quickly followed by schatzie (Tollcross Trilight). These dogs introduced us to the show scene and the interesting and helpful people there. Our first litter (Tantivvey Target of Olbero X Tollcross Trilight) in 1985 produced five puppies, one of which we kept, peritas.

élan died in 1990 and soon another entered our house, tochka (Cocheperro One for the Road from Ray and Maureen Bull).

In 1996 we were granted the Tolutim prefix from the Kennel Club. Tolutim is actually a word, not an acronym. Admittedly it is Latin, but it is appropriate for dalmatians, for it means “at the trot”

tochka produced our second litter in 1996 (Ch Elabri Eagle Owl X Cocheperro One for the Road) and we kept a puppy, xeno (Ch Tolutim Benedictine).

peritas died in 1997, just after we moved to Gloucestershire and sorrel (Olbero Olympic Rose, JW bred by Peter and Brenda Rance) entered the house in 2000.

Our third litter (Ch Tolutim Benedictine X Olbero Olympic Rose, JW) produced casia (Tolutim Chartreuse, JW) from sorrel and xeno in the summer of 2003.

In 2006 our fourth litter (Dalspa Oratorio X Olbero Olympic Rose, JW) produced zaffre (Tolutim Zaffre).

The D-Litter (Dalehouse Rockafella X Tolutim Chartreuse) was produced in 2008.

The E-Litter (Ch Fakenham Flash Gordon X Tolutim Chartreuse) was produced in 2011.

The Y-Litter (Ch Fakenham Flash Gordon X Tolutim Zaffre) was produced in 2012.

We are successful in the limited showing we do, but we are more proud of the good temperament of our puppies.

The good temperament of our puppies, since all of them end up in family homes, is of paramount importance. All of our current dogs and all of our puppies are hearing tested (BAER method).
