Crufts is over for the dalmatians

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Crufts this year, making new friends at the ringside and watching the group on the big screen in the corner of Hall 1 where the judging took place.

The best a Tolutim could do was a third in Puppy. None of the other Tolutim animals was able to capture the attention of the judge and mesmerise her into awarding a higher placing. With classes of over a dozen, there was a lot of competition, as over 200 dalmatians competed.

Crufts is not just a show where you hope to get a card. It is the venue for meeting up with friends made through the years, either at other shows during the year or when they make their appearance only at Crufts (there are a number of people in that category).

We will need to polish up our French, because we made friends with some people from Normandy. It will be wonderful to meet with them at future shows – perhaps even making it to France in the future.

Anyway – the dalmatian who was awarded Best Of Breed looked good on the big screen as we watched from rather comfortable chairs by the catering points, drinks flowed while we spoke about dogs and how badly we spoke each others’ languages. We cheered when he was awarded Group 4 for his efforts this year. However our shouts of joy were eclipsed by the supporters of the winner of the group.

Crufts – the big show of the year

Crufts began today with some other groups. We will make our way to the NEC, Birmingham, tomorrow morning so that we can strut our stuff on the green carpet at 08:30. (We will be making a very early start!)

Needless to say, everyone is terribly excited.

Well, sort of. They are all so very relaxed. Sorrel was so relaxed she was not to be seen when camera was in hand.

However, as Mary sat watching Crufts on television, Beren heard the barking and his ears pricked up then he got up to see what was going on.
